Antenna

Powerful 15dBi WiFi omnidirectional antenna. Real gain is not as much as specified by manufacturer. Better signal, more reliability and possibly more speed. You can install this antenna on a mast, on a wall mount or even inside at your window with a table mount.

High power WiFi/WLAN antennas might cause health issues. Because of the high power of this antenna, we recommend to use it only outdoors or at a window and pointed towards the window.

N female connector and no cables included. You can select the cables and adapters above. Below you can find instructions for selecting the right ones. If you install outdoors, be sure to protect the connections carefully against moisture. See beside a self vulcanizing tape and 3M Temflex tape for protecting the vulcanizing tape.

Selecting antenna type

There are 2 types of antennas: directional antennas and omnidirectional antennas. Range of directional antenna is typically the bigger the more directional the antenna is. So high dBi most directional antennas are the best for extending your network outdoors to other buildings. If you want to extend your wireless network to more than one spot in your backyard, an omnidirectional antenna is better. Obstacles deteriorate and reflect signal which means that the signal isn't coming from just one direction. That is why extremely directional antennas are not good if you have obstacles. For medium long range with obstacles we recommend a panel antenna instead.

Antenna placement and installation

You can install the antenna on a mast and by mounting the mast on a wall with a mast mount. You can also install the antenna with a wall mount or on a balcony with a balcony mount. You can install even indoors by a window with a table mount.

1 antenna, 2 antennas or a MIMO antenna?

MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) allows to overcome the interference and signal degradation when traveling long distances or through physical barriers in a small office or a large apartment, resulting in an incredible improvement in the wireless performance, even in a steel-and-concrete building. MIMO antenna has 2 built-in antennas and offers better speed, range and reliability compared to just 1 antenna. MIMO antenna includes 2 antennas and hence doesn't take as much space as 2 separate antennas. You can also use 2 separate antennas and achieve the same effect. Your WiFi/WLAN device must have 2 antenna connections so that you can use a MIMO antenna or 2 separate antennas.

Cables

You can choose a suitable length cable above. If 1 cable would not be enough, you can also choose an extension cable. There are many level cables available. Please see the table below for the attenuation (signal loss) in dB/meter on different frequencies and diameter of different cables. The lower the attenuation, the stronger the signal you will get. HDF, LMR and CFD cables have the same specifications for same number cables (eg. HDF-200<=>LMR-200<=>CFD-200). The bigger the diameter, the less flexible the cable is. Bending cable in a small angle will result in a damage to the cable.
